The Indus Training and Research Institute (ITARI) is the academic nerve centre of the Indus Education ecosystem, envisioned to prepare exceptional educators who can lead, innovate, and inspire in today’s complex educational landscape. As a centre of excellence in teacher education, professional learning, and research, ITARI nurtures educators who are reflective practitioners, design thinkers, and ethical leaders. 

1. Mission and Core Purpose 

At ITARI, we believe that every teacher is a leader and every child is a self-entrepreneur. Our mission is to develop educators with deep pedagogical insight, socio-emotional intelligence, and a global outlook — capable of shaping future-ready learning ecosystems with courage, creativity, and compassion. 

2. Academic Programmes 

ITARI offers a portfolio of globally benchmarked teacher education and certification programmes: 

  • PGDE-I with IB Educator Certificate (PGDE–IBEC) – a UK-accredited Postgraduate Diploma integrating the IB Educator Certificate across PYP, MYP, DP and CP, designed for pre-service teachers seeking international school pathways. 
  • M.A.Ed. with IB Educator Certificate (M.A.Ed.–IBEC) – a postgraduate degree tailored for in-service educators aiming for academic and leadership growth, combining rigorous research with IB-aligned practice. 
  • CIDTL (Cambridge International Diploma in Teaching and Learning) – a practice-based qualification for educators who wish to deepen their classroom expertise within the Cambridge framework, supported by expert mentoring and portfolio development. 
  • PGD in Early Childhood Education – a flagship programme in collaboration with the University of Helsinki (HY+), focused on global best practices in early years education. 
  • IBEC with the University of Windsor, Canada – An internationally recognised pathway to IB Educator Certification, with academic support and moderation from the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor — combining global credibility with practice-based insight. 

All programmes embed inquiry-based pedagogies, reflective practice, AI-assisted learning design, and international professional standards. 

3. Signature Learning Model 

The ITARI learning architecture is structured around the 10–20–70 model: 

  • 10% Formal learning through seminars, lectures, and conceptual input 
  • 20% Self-directed learning (SDL), supported by AI tools, peer reflections, and portfolio work 
  • 70% Experiential and collaborative learning — through placements, lesson planning, action research, and mentoring 

Key components include: 

  • School-based placements in IB World Schools 
  • Microteaching, co-planning, and interdisciplinary design labs 
  • Professional Study Portfolios (PSP) and practitioner research 
  • Deep reading seminars, leadership workshops, and SEL integration
